SAMARKAND, UZ / ACCESS Newswire / September 26, 2026 / Timur Turlov, founder and chief executive officer of Nasdaq-listed Freedom Holding Corp., has been elected president of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) following a vote by the organization's General Assembly in Samarkand. Turlov received 110 votes in the second round of voting, while the other candidate, Wadim Rosenstein, received 85 votes. Jan-Henrik Büttner was eliminated from the race after the first round. The election took place on Saturday, September 26, in Samarkand. Turlov ran on a ticket with five-time World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand, who was elected FIDE deputy president. At the time of the election, Turlov already had significant experience working with chess organizations. He has served as president of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation since 2023 and also serves as president of the International School Chess Federation (ISCF). In his program for FIDE, Turlov proposed drawing on his experience in business and in leading and developing chess organizations to advance the federation's digital transformation, expand chess education, and strengthen support for national federations. "To achieve truly large-scale results, we need to attract more resources and think strategically. I plan to increase the volume of investment in FIDE to $7 million and personally guarantee the fulfillment of these financial commitments. Part of these funds will be allocated to a media fund that will enable national federations to strengthen their reputation and raise awareness among the global chess audience. New commercial partnerships, in turn, will help strengthen FIDE's financial sustainability. "At the same time, FIDE must not become a business. My long-term goal is to build a sustainable foundation for the development of chess worldwide and provide federations with opportunities for growth for years to come," Turlov said. Digital Development and Support for Federations One of the key priorities of Turlov's program is upgrading FIDE's digital infrastructure. His program calls for the creation of a unified digital platform and expanded access for national federations to modern digital tools. During the presidential debates, Turlov also spoke about the need for further investment in anti-cheating solutions and advanced player verification and identification tools for competitive online chess. Support for national federations is another major element of his program. During the September 9 debate, Turlov proposed increasing FIDE's development fund to more than $6 million. The funds could be used to organize tournaments, train coaches and arbiters, support international travel for players, and strengthen federations' administrative and communications capabilities. At the same time, Turlov has repeatedly emphasized the importance of FIDE's long-term financial sustainability and the development of new revenue streams to provide sustained support for the growth of chess. Chess in Education Another priority is expanding chess in schools. Turlov heads the International School Chess Federation, which works to expand cooperation among chess organizations, schools, and national education systems. Kazakhstan provides an example of how such programs can be implemented on a large scale. Today, chess programs are available in more than 1,500 schools across Kazakhstan, reaching around 60,000 children. Turlov wants to build on that experience internationally, helping national federations bring chess to more children and develop stronger partnerships with schools and other educational institutions. Kazakhstan's Experience and Next Steps Turlov became president of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation in 2023. Since then, Kazakhstan has expande

(NASDAQ:FRHC) will serve as General Partner of the Salesforce FIDE World Championship Match 2026, continuing a long-standing partnership with the International Chess Federation (FIDE) spanning elite competition, education and chess development. Freedom's involvement in the 2026 World Championship follows several years of cooperation with FIDE. Earlier this year, Freedom and FIDE further expanded their cooperation through a partnership covering international and regional tournaments, educational programmes, support for players and coaches, training initiatives and talent development. "The World Championship represents the highest level of our game, but the strength of chess is built far beyond a single event," said Timur Turlov, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Freedom Holding Corp. and President of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation. "It depends on strong federations, opportunities for young players, good coaches, education, technology and partnerships that are built for the long term. NEW YORK, Sept. 04, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Moody’s Ratings has assigned insurance financial strength ratings to two Freedom Holding Corp. (Nasdaq: FRHC) insurance subsidiaries for the first time. Freedom Finance Insurance JSC, operating as Freedom Insurance, received Ba1 local- and foreign-currency insurance financial strength ratings, while Freedom Life JSC received Baa3 ratings. Both carry stable outlooks. The Baa3 rating makes Freedom Life the first company within Freedom Holding Corp. to receive an investment-grade rating from Moody’s. The agency began expanding its coverage of Freedom earlier this year, assigning a Ba3 rating to Freedom Bank Kazakhstan in March. “Moody’s ratings for our insurance companies confirm that within the Freedom ecosystem we can support not only the rapid growth of the ecosystem as a whole, but also the development of each individual business. We see significant potential in combining traditional insurance products with modern technology. This allows us to offer the market more effective solutions, reduce our own costs and launch unique products,” said Timur Turlov, CEO of Freedom Holding Corp. Moody’s highlights Freedom Insurance’s market position, asset quality, conservative investment strategy and capital adequacy among its key strengths. The company ranked third in Kazakhstan’s non-life insurance market by gross written premiums in 2025, with a market share of around 10%. Approximately 90% of its invested assets were held in fixed-income instruments. Freedom Life is among Kazakhstan’s three largest life insurers and held approximately 20% of the market by premiums in 2025. Moody’s points to the company’s asset quality, capitalization and profitability as key strengths. Moody’s also points to the insurers’ integration into the wider Freedom Holding Corp. ecosystem as a factor supporting their market positions. The shared brand, cross-selling opportunities and Freedom SuperApp help both companies reach customers across the ecosystem. By March 2026, the SuperApp had surpassed 5 million registered users. NEW YORK, Sept. 04, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- S&P Global Ratings has revised the outlook on the long-term credit ratings of Nasdaq-listed Freedom Holding Corp. and its four core operating subsidiaries from “stable” to “positive,” while affirming their international credit ratings. The agency also raised the national-scale ratings of Freedom Finance JSC (Freedom Broker) and Freedom Bank Kazakhstan JSC from “kzA-” to “kzA.” The positive outlook applies to Freedom Holding Corp., Freedom Finance JSC, Freedom Finance Global PLC, Freedom Finance Europe Ltd., and Freedom Bank Kazakhstan JSC. “The improved outlook from S&P underscores that, strategically, we are moving in the right direction. We chose not to develop each business in isolation, but to build our own global institutional ecosystem. At the same time, we are strengthening corporate governance and risk management and working to improve the efficiency of our business model across all the jurisdictions in which we operate. S&P’s positive outlook shows that this progress is being recognized by independent international rating agencies,” said Timur Turlov, CEO of Freedom Holding Corp. S&P describes Freedom Finance as Kazakhstan’s largest retail brokerage franchise and notes the group’s growing presence in Europe, complemented by its banking and insurance businesses in Kazakhstan. The agency expects moderate balance-sheet growth and earnings diversified across businesses and geographies to support the group’s strong capitalization. The agency also highlights Freedom’s continued development of group-wide risk management and consolidated compliance functions. S&P believes stronger controls at both group and subsidiary level should help the company monitor and manage risks as the business grows. It also expects Freedom to continue expanding its financial and non-financial businesses without putting undue pressure on capitalization. The positive outlook means S&P could raise the ratings over the next 12 months if its assessment of economic risks in Kazakhstan improves further. The outlook revision comes against a more favorable assessment of Kazakhstan’s economic environment. On August 21, S&P upgraded Kazakhstan’s sovereign credit ratings to “BBB/A-2” from “BBB-/A-3,” with a stable outlook. The agency said resilient economic growth, easing economic imbalances and stronger regulatory oversight could contribute to better conditions for the country’s financial sector. The latest action follows another positive S&P rating move earlier this year. In June, the agency upgraded Freedom Finance JSC, Freedom Finance Europe Ltd., Freedom Finance Global PLC and Freedom Bank Kazakhstan JSC to “BB-.” About Freedom Holding Corp.
