  • Newton Shafts Expands Into Woods And Hybrids With New Fast Motion Technology
    Mar 11, 2026Newton Golf - News

By Tim Corlett, Contributor. Professional and Amateur Golf Break80. Newton is set to launch their Fast Motion shaft into the metal woods and hybrid market giving golfers an option of a lighter shaft and a progressive bend profile.   Newton Shafts has expanded into professional golf and long drive with the addition of specialized shaft technology for woods and hybrids. Newton divides its lines into the Motion and Fast Motion models and offers a one-to-seven dot–based fitting system that specifies shaft stiffness and kick point. The higher the dot number, the stiffer the shaft. “I’ll start off with my playing driver on the golf course, the new Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond Max paired with a Newton Fast Motion 5-dot. It is on the heavier end of the shafts I use, but it gives me a lot of confidence with that driver,” Amateur Long Drive World Champion Tanner Pipes said of his driver setup. “When I go step on the grid, I have a Callaway Elite 4.5-degree paired with a Newton Fast Motion 2-dot. It’s the shaft I won with in Colorado, and it’s around 40 grams, so it is a very light shaft.” Source: Break80 Golf The Fast Motion line of shafts is 10 grams lighter than its Motion counterparts, with Newton claiming the shaft’s lighter weight and kick characteristics can add 10–15 yards to drives. The reduction in weight of 10 grams is expected to produce an additional 3–5 mph of swing speed. “We use some of the best carbon fiber, and the shaft itself is entirely American-made,” Newton Director and Chief Technology Officer Akinobu Yorihiro said. In addition to long drive, Newton has seen widespread adoption of its shafts on the PGA Tour Champions, with more than 60 players across the PGA TOUR Champions, LPGA, and Korn Ferry Tours are playing with their shafts. The reason behind the success could lie in Newton’s “Progressive Loading” technology. The dot system mentioned above corresponds to a specific way the shaft flexes—where it flexes and how it matches swing tempo and swing speed. “We simplify everything by going from one dot to seven dots. As we progress in stiffness, we change some of the characteristics of the shaft. The bend point on the one-dot would be closer to the clubhead, while the seven-dot will be further up the shaft,” Yorihiro said. Pipes swings his two-dot Fast Motion shaft—recommended for 75 to 85 mph swing speeds—at over 143 mph. His use of a shaft that has significant flex can lead to longer drives but may result in inconsistencies in accuracy. It does, however, demonstrate the durability of the product. “As you go from one to seven, it gets stiffer, it gets slightly heavier, the torque will go down a little bit, and the bend profile will move from lower to higher,” Yorihiro said. The Newton Fast Motion shaft is 10 grams lighter than their already lightweight Motion shaft possibly translating to extra ball speed and distance. The Elongated Bend Profile technology and the dot system used in the driver shafts have now been adapted to the woods and hybrid lines. It represents a change in the industry, wher

  • Newton Fast Motion Shaft Review
    Jun 9, 2025Newton Golf - News

50 Words or Less The Newton Fast Motion shaft is a lighter, more stable follow up to the original Motion.  Unique fitting system and stellar looks. Introduction In just over a year, Newton has established itself as a growing force in the shaft market.  The company boasts that over 30 professionals on the PGA TOUR Champions and LPGA Tour are gaming a Newton Motion shaft, and I regularly see the eye-catching purple/blue finish of the Motion when I’m out playing. New for 2025 is the Newton Fast Motion shaft.  This is billed as a “lighter, Tour-proven shaft” meant to help golfers find more speed without sacrificing control.  I tested it to see if it delivers. Looks Newton knows that a shaft doesn’t have to look good to be successful, but it doesn’t hurt.  The color shifting blue/purple/green of the Motion and Motion FW remains one of my favorite looks, but the orange/red/yellow of the Newton Fast Motion isn’t far behind.  Take a look at the picture above to see just how much a small change in the light can shift the Fast Motion from light orange to nearly maroon. With such a stunning color, Newton was smart to keep the branding minimal. An airy “Newton” stretches across the middle of the shaft, followed by “Fast Motion” and the dots which represent the shaft’s flex.  Golfers that prefer to see the colors uninterrupted can get a clean logo down installation. Feel My dominant memory of the Newton Motion was its smooth, languid feel.  It only took a quick wiggle with the Newton Fast Motion to know that this was a different animal.  My notes say as much: “Definitely not the original.” I started my testing with the six dot version of the Fast Motion and found a fairly stout grip with a smooth flow from the midsection to the tip.  When I swung with a good tempo, I could feel a pleasant kick through the ball.  However, the Fast Motion wants some effort – it didn’t activate when I dialed my speed down too much. Switching to the seven dot Newton Fast Motion yielded predictable changes to the feel.  The character was similar, but everything was a little stiffer.  There was less kick and more effort required to get it.  The tip felt stronger at impact, which was more noticeable on mishits. Performance The biggest change from the original Motion shaft to the Newton Fast Motion is in weight.  Across the board, Fast Motion is 10 grams lighter.  Newton

  • Why Newton Motion Shafts Are Gaining Ground on the Champions Tour
    Jun 5, 2025Newton Golf - News

If you've been paying attention to what's in players' bags on the Champions Tour lately, you've probably noticed something sneaky-good popping up more and more: Newton Motion shafts. In a sea of "proprietary blends" and "made for" composites, Newton shafts aren't just your average pieces of graphite.     Here is what I found during my testing The Motion shaft responds best to tempo, and it gives you the kind of feedback that lets you trust your swing. When swinging the Motion shaft with an even transition and deliberate release, you never "lose" the relationship of where the head is in the swing.  So, what's the deal? Why are Newton shafts catching fire with some of the game's most experienced players?    Built different: The Tech behind Newton Motion  The Newton Motion features something they call "Progressive Loading". In plain English, it means the shaft flexes in a way that better matches your swing tempo and speed. Instead of a harsh kick or too much lag, the Motion gives you a super controlled load and release, so you can square the face consistently and start it where you're looking. This "Elongated Bend Profile" enhances clubhead speed by allowing the shaft to bend over a longer span. An independent player test reported some testers seeing notable distance gains, ranging from 6 to 15 yards. By enhancing the energy transfer and optimizing ball velocity, without requiring additional clubhead speed, testers attributed this bump in distance to the Motion shaft's innovative design and technology. They also use high-modulus materials and some clever engineering to keep the shaft ultra-stable through impact. Translation: tighter dispersion, better contact and more predictable ball flights. Feel is real.   Why the Champions Tour guys love it Let's be real, these guys still flush it for a living, but their swing speeds aren't what they were at 25. Newton Motion is a perfect fit because:  -It supports smoother, more efficient swings  -It keeps spin and launch dialed in without needing ma

  • Golfing After 50: How to Keep Your Game Strong with the Right Gear
    Apr 8, 2025Newton Golf - News

Golf is one of the few sports where age doesn’t have to hold you back. Plenty of golfers hit their stride in their 50s, 60s, and beyond. Over the past decade, participation among those 65 and older has jumped by 64%. That said, your body isn’t the same as it was twenty years ago. Maybe your swing speed has slowed, or those walks between holes feel a little longer than they used to. But that doesn’t mean your game has to suffer. You don’t have to let that slow you down. The secret to staying sharp - and even improving - after 50 is upgrading your gear. The right clubs, balls, and accessories can help you hit farther, stay consistent, and play comfortably. At Newton Golf Co., we love seeing experienced players continue their passion for the game. In this guide, we’ll break down the best gear choices for golfers over 50, so you can keep enjoying every round without feeling like you’re working against your own body. Adjusting Your Clubs If you haven’t updated your clubs in a while, you’re probably making the game harder than it needs to be. Modern club technology is designed to help with exactly the kind of challenges that come with getting older. Drivers The driver is where many golfers over 50 start to notice a drop in performance. Slower swing speeds make it harder to get the ball airborne and squeeze out those extra yards off the tee. However, a few smart equipment choices can help. Choose a higher loft. A driver with at least 10.5° or even 12° of loft helps you launch the ball higher and carry it farther. Go for lightweight materials. Titanium and carbon fiber drivers allow you to generate more clubhead speed without extra effort. Use a senior flex shaft. If your swing speed is under 90 mph, switching to a senior or regular flex shaft can help you create more whip and speed through impact. But there's a better option: Newton Motion Shafts. These shafts are designed with older golfers in mind, offering unique features that improve distance and consistency. Elongated Bend Profile: Newton Motion Shafts feature an elongated bend profile, which helps create more speed through impact. This added flexibility can give you extra distance off the tee, making it easier to keep up with younger players. Perfect Symmetry: Unlike traditional shafts, Newton Motion Shafts are perfectly symmetrical and have no spine. This means the shaft bends the same way, no matter how it’s installed into the driver head. It offers consistency, even if you adjust the loft or lie angle settings on your driver. This helps older golfers maintain a reliable ball flight and ensures better control. Irons In case you’re still playing with the same blade-style irons from your younger days, you’re working way too hard. Game-improvement irons are designed to make solid contact easier, even if your swing isn’t as consistent as it used to be. Cavity-back irons are a great option if you want a little extra help. The wider sole and perimeter weighting makes it easier to get the ball up in the air on off-center hits. Another smart move is switching to graphite shafts. They’re lighter than steel and absorb more shock, which is especially helpful if you deal with arthritis or joint pain. The added flexibility can also help you generate a bit more swing speed without extra effort. Instead of struggling with long irons, swap them for hybrids or fairway woods with a flexible shaft, like the

  • The Importance of Shaft Flex and How it Impacts Your Game
    Apr 8, 2025Newton Golf - News

If you've ever hit a shot that felt perfect off the clubface but still veered off into the trees, the problem might not be your swing - it could be your shaft flex. Flex is one of the most overlooked factors in golf performance. While many golfers obsess over clubhead design, loft, or ball choice, they ignore the one thing that connects their swing to the ball - the shaft. Get the flex right, and your shots become smoother, straighter, and more consistent. So, what exactly is shaft flex, and why does it matter? Let’s break it down and find out if your clubs are helping your game or making it harder. What is Shaft Flex? Shaft flex refers to how much a golf shaft bends during your swing. As you take the club back, the shaft naturally flexes, then snaps forward at impact. The amount it bends depends on your swing speed and tempo. Newton Motion shafts use a Dot System to match players with the perfect shaft flex based on their swing speed and average driving distance. Here's how it works: Motion Flex 1 (1 Dot): Ideal for golfers with swing speeds under 75 mph and driving distances below 180 yards. This shaft helps maximize carry and forgiveness, offering a smooth feel for players with a slower tempo. Motion Flex 2 (2 Dots): Suited for golfers with swing speeds between 75-85 mph and driving distances of 180-220 yards. It provides a balance of control and forgiveness, perfect for those with a moderate tempo. Motion Flex 3 (3 Dots): Designed for golfers swinging at 85-95 mph and achieving driving distances of 210-240 yards. This shaft enhances both distance and accuracy, offering excellent stability and energy transfer. Motion Flex 4 (4 Dots): Best for golfers with swing speeds of 95-105 mph and driving distances of 230-260 yards. It offers a solid feel and enhanced accuracy for players who need more control over their drives. Motion Flex 5 (5 Dots): Perfect for golfers with swing speeds of 105-115 mph and driving distances of 250-285 yards. This shaft ensures maximum stability and shot control for high-speed swings. Motion Flex 6 (6 Dots): The ultimate shaft for elite players with swing speeds exceeding 115 mph and driving distances beyond 275 yards. Offering peak performance and precision, this flex is for those who demand the best. The goal is to match your shaft flex to your swing speed. If it’s too stiff, your shots might launch too low with less spin, costing you distance. Too soft, and you could end up with ballooning shots or unexpected hooks. What Makes Newton’s Shaft Flex Different? Unlike traditional flex ratings, which can be confusing or subjective, Newton’s Dot System takes the guesswork out of shaft selection. Our system is based on real-world data and carefully crafted to match your swing speeds and distances accurately.  By focusing on measurable performance factors, Newton provides a more precise and personalized fit for each golfer. This results in better energy transfer, improved distance, and greater consistency, ensuring you get the most out of every swing.  How Shaft Flex Affects Your Game Let’s take a closer look at what happens when you play with the right (or wrong) flex. 1. Distance A properly fitted shaft flex helps maximize your distance by allowing the club to generate optimal energy transfer at impact. If your shaft is too stiff, you may struggle to get the ball airborne, robbing yourself of carry distance. On the other hand, a shaft that’s too flexible can create too much spin and cause a loss of rol

  • Why Newton Motion Shafts Improve Distance, Control & Feel
    Mar 17, 2025Newton Golf - News

Newton Motion Shafts: The Key to More Distance and Control March 2024 Golf is more popular than ever, with over 45 million Americans aged six and older playing both on-course and off-course in 2024. If you’re one of these players, you know how critical every detail is when it comes to golf. From the clubhead to the grip, each piece of equipment in your arsenal affects performance. But one part that often goes overlooked? The golf shaft. That’s where Newton Motion Shafts step in to change the game. If you're serious about improving your consistency, distance, and feel, it's time to understand why these shafts are making waves. Let's dive in. What Makes Newton Motion Shafts Different? Most golfers focus on clubheads, yet the shaft is the engine of the golf club. Newton Motion Shafts are designed to optimize energy transfer, giving players a smoother, more controlled swing with maximum efficiency. Here’s what sets them apart: 1. Science-Backed Performance Newton Motion Shafts aren’t just another set of shafts with marketing hype. These shafts are engineered with advanced materials and tested under real-world conditions. Using state-of-the-art technology, they enhance stability and minimize torque, helping golfers square the clubface at impact. This means more consistent strikes and improved accuracy. It’s no surprise that many players, including Doug Barron, rely on these motion shafts to elevate their game. 2. Enhanced Energy Transfer for More Distance Every golfer wants extra yards. Newton Motion Shafts are designed to maximize energy transfer from your swing to the ball. A shaft that optimizes energy transfer reduces unnecessary vibrations and prevents energy loss. This means a cleaner, more powerful strike that helps you gain those crucial extra yards off the tee or fairway. 3. Smooth Feel with Maximum Control A good golf shaft shouldn’t just add distance - it should also feel great. Newton Motion Driver Shafts are crafted for smooth transitions, eliminating harsh vibrations while maintaining control. The proprietary Symmetry 360 design eliminates any spine and ensures consistency from shot to shot. Excellent Stability and Accuracy When it comes to golf, accuracy is just as important as distance. What’s the point of hitting a long drive if it ends up in the rough? Newton Motion Shafts improve stability, reducing unwanted twists and flexes during the swing. This means straighter shots and more greens in regulation. 1. Mid to High Torque for a Responsive Feel Torque plays a crucial role in how your golf shaft performs. Newton Motion Shafts feature mid to high torque, allowing for natural clubhead rotation through impact. This flexibility helps golfers who need a bit more movement to square the clubface, generating a powerful yet controlled ball flight. Mid Torque (3–4): Found in Motion Flex 3 through 6, this range provides a balance of stability and workability. It allows skilled players to shape shots while maintaining consistency. High Torque (5+):: Present in Motion Flex 1 and 2, this range is great for golfers with slower swing speeds, helping maximize launch and distance. Unlike low-torque shafts that minimize twisting, mid-to-high torque shafts provide a smoother feel and allow for natural m

  • Driving Range Heroes Deuce Putter Review
    Feb 25, 2025Newton Golf - News

Newton Gravity Deuce Putter Review You may recall the American-made boutique putter brand, Sacks Parente. If you weren’t aware, Sacks Parente also launched a shaft company called “Newton Shafts.” Fast forward, and the decision was made to rebrand everything under the Newton Golf umbrella. As part of this rebranding, a new line of putters was introduced – the Newton Gravity series. Made from carbon steel with a ceramic coating, and featuring the signature Ultra Low Balance Point, the Gravity line includes five different models, along with a new Newton putter shaft. The Newton Gravity Deuce featured here is a wide-body Anser-style putter with a unique center-shaft hosel. The Looks Premium and contemporary aesthetics are a major focus of the Newton Gravity putters. The putter head features a black ceramic finish with red paintfill. I would describe it as a softer black, almost with a bluish tint. It’s not quite the classic Aquamarine finish used by BOS Golf, but definitely more of a “moonlit night sky” than it is “pitch black.” The red paintfill, combined with the “chameleon red” Newton Tempo shaft, adds a nice finishing touch. Regarding the Gravity Deuce specifically, Newton calls it a wide-body blade putter. While it is about twice the width of a traditional blade, I would consider it more of a square mid-mallet. That said, there are distinct Anser characteristics in the shoulders and topline of the putter. The external hosel is an interesting touch for a center-shaft putter, as opposed to the usual “shaft-over” spud. When looking down from address, it blends seamlessly into the putter head so it shouldn’t be distracting to the golfer. How Does it Feel? Newton’s “ultra-low balance point” is arguably the secret sauce behind the Gravity putters. By using a lightweight carbon fiber shaft and an ultra-light putter grip, the balance point is almost entirely at the head of the putter. So much so that I’m convinced if the sole of the putter were flat, the Deuce could stand up on its own. In addition to the stability from being face-balanced, this design gives the Gravity Deuce a level of head awareness unlike many putters you’ll try. It’s not so heavy that you can’t control it, but the ultra-low balance point gives it a definitive presence. When striking the sweet spot, the Gravity Deuce feels extremely muted and clean. Carbon steel has a certain feel to it, and this putter really captures that. I’m also impressed by how soft and smooth the putter feels despite the shallow face milling. There’s enough milling to make better contact with the ball, yet it’s stunning how little “click” there is. A lot of this feel can also be attributed to the Newton Tempo shaft and how it absorbs vibration. Of course, as you move away from the sweet spot, the feel firms up quickly. Credit to the Tempo shaft—while the impact feels firmer, it does an excellent job of keeping unwanted vibrations out of your hands. How Does it Sound? The sound of the Newton Gravity Deuce mirrors the feel exactly. When you strike the sweet spot of the face, it produces a tame, muted “tock.” It’s about as good as you can get from a carbon steel, milled putter face. When you stray from the sweet spot, the tone becomes more clicky. Maybe it’s the ceramic coating playing a role, but the sound is pleasantly soft and very classic. <img alt="Newton Gravity Deuce Putter B
